Book an AppointmentHelping embryos implant more easily
Assisted hatching is an advanced laboratory technique used during IVF to help the embryo implant more easily into the uterine lining. It involves creating a small opening in the outer shell of the embryo (zona pellucida) before transfer.
Who may benefit from assisted hatching?
Assisted hatching may be considered in:
- Women of advanced maternal age
- Previous IVF failure
- Embryos with a thicker zona pellucida
- Use of frozen-thawed embryos
How does assisted hatching work?
In the laboratory, a precise method (such as laser technology) is used to create a small opening and thinning in the embryo's outer layer. This may assist the embryo in "hatching" and attaching to the uterine lining during implantation.
Important note: Assisted hatching is not required in all cases and is recommended based on individual clinical factors and embryology assessment.
