Book an AppointmentAnswers and support after pregnancy loss
Recurrent miscarriage is generally defined as three consecutive pregnancy losses. At this point, the likelihood of an underlying, repeatable cause becomes higher, and a structured evaluation is recommended.
Why it happens
In many cases, there is more than one contributing factor. Causes can include genetic, anatomical, hormonal, immune-related, or clotting factors, as well as lifestyle and age-related influences. Sometimes, no single cause is identified, but that does not mean there are no effective next steps.
How we evaluate
Your care plan typically starts with a detailed review of your medical history and prior pregnancy details, followed by targeted investigations, which may include:
- Ultrasound assessment of the uterus and pelvic anatomy
- Blood tests related to hormones, thyroid function, and metabolic factors
- Screening for clotting or immune-related contributors when clinically indicated
- Genetic evaluation for the couple and/or pregnancy tissue when available
Treatment and next steps
Once we identify likely contributors, we recommend an individualized plan. This may include medical treatment, surgical correction of uterine findings when appropriate, assisted reproductive technologies (IVF/ICSI) and/or a pregnancy monitoring plan designed to support early reassurance and safety.
